A Day in the Life of an HVAC Technician


7:00 AM – Morning Briefing

The day starts with a quick meeting at the Ryals Brothers office, where we receive our assignments for the day. Today, I have a few calls lined up, including an air conditioner installation in Lakeland and an HVAC maintenance job in Winter Haven.

8:30 AM – First Job: AC Installation

  • Arrive at the customer’s home in Lakeland, FL
  • Conduct a site assessment to determine the best air conditioning system for their needs
  • Explain the installation process and answer any questions the homeowner may have
  • Begin the installation, following strict safety protocols

12:00 PM – Lunch Break

Grab a quick bite to eat and recharge for the afternoon.

1:00 PM – Second Job: HVAC Maintenance

  • Head over to the customer’s location in Winter Haven, FL
  • Perform a comprehensive HVAC maintenance check, including:
    • Cleaning or replacing air filters
    • Checking refrigerant levels
    • Inspecting electrical connections
    • Lubricating moving parts
  • Provide the customer with a detailed report and recommendations for any necessary heat pump repairs or upgrades

3:30 PM – Emergency Call

Just as I’m wrapping up the maintenance job, I receive an emergency call for AC repair in Bartow, FL. A customer’s air conditioning unit has stopped working, and they need immediate assistance.

4:30 PM – AC Repair

  • Arrive at the customer’s location in Bartow
  • Diagnose the issue with their AC unit
  • Perform the necessary repairs to get their system up and running again
  • Explain the problem and the solution to the customer

6:00 PM – Wrap-Up

After a long day of installations, maintenance, and repairs, I head back to the office to file paperwork and prepare for tomorrow’s jobs, which may take me to Plant City, Mulberry, or Lake Alfred, FL.
